The road from Gujranwal to Sialkot city is dotted by many International standard industrial complexes producing World class Sports and medical equipment.
With their own Private international Airport Sialkot seems to be doing good business with the World away from the City center.
The main Bus station is located near the Gate of Cantonment. Many good hotels are located here along with basic ones. I found a decent hotel near the Gate.Had good dinner walked around some time and saw impressive Plazas and busy markets.
Next day got early and by 6am I was inside the Cantonment road were many other people were taking a walk. The broad road with impressive landscape and natural greenery was heavenly for walking.Soon I came across a Mile stone which said Jummu 50 Km,Border 20K. I resolved to walk all the way to the Border and visit the site of largest tank battle in 1965.This was my way of paying homage to the Bravest boys who went under the unstoppable Indian tank with bombs on their chest.
Soon I came across the First check post.I asked the Jawans if I could proceed further and they welcomed me after learning that I was from Karachi and TV Host.
The walk was great and after few blocks I came across Commercial Area with impressive Plazas housing major Brands. Many Banks with ATM were available here.Area gave impression of opulence and wealth. The Area also had big villas apparently belonging to civilians.
Finally I was at the other end of the fenced area and joined the road coming from City center to the Border. The road twisted and turned around the extended Cantonment Area. Soon the civilian Area began and farm land and villages extended right up to the Border. The road had number of commercial centers with Banks and Atm. Due to upcoming LB election the Area looked very colourful with banners.Main contenders were PMLN and PTI.
The long tiring journey came to an end when I reached a Check post next to Police station.I was told that Locals can go further as a village exist very close to the Indian fences but outsiders are not advised to go.At that point a raised land barrier and number of Gun posts.
I was able to get public transport in the form of Suzuki right upto my Hotel.
In evening I walked the town further and was satisfied that I have seen enough.
Next day I left for Gujarat.
